For 10 years, a single white male had been living on the streets of Delray Beach. At age 70, he began having numerous medical issues and was only able to get around with a walker. He was hospitalized and sent to rehab, only to be returned to the streets once again.
Starting in January 2018, the Delray Beach Police Department Community Outreach team began working with him and have since been able to get him off the streets.
Completing the process to apply for housing was too daunting for him, so the team worked closely with him. Finally, he was able to secure his own apartment, complete with a terrace overlooking a lake.
